The festivities are about to begin and you are
all invited, as we are looking forward to a
friends and family reunion encompassed about
with a celebrated time of worshipping,
fellowshipping, and reconnecting with a lot of
old friends that we haven't seen in years as
well as meeting new ones. A little icing on the
cake will be our joining together with Dacie
Durkin (wife of Jim Durkin, founder of Gospel
Outreach 1969) in celebrating her 90th
birthday. If you are reading this, then you
must know that we want you there, October 8th
thru the 11th, 2009. Mark you calendars,
rearrange your vacation time and make plans to
see friends and family you haven't seen for up
to 40 some years. My goodness, are we that old?
This is not an event to push personal agendas,
air out dirty laundry, set people straight or
start new doctrinal movements. This is a
rare opportunity to gather together for a grand time
of fun and fellowship around our Lord. We
want to set time aside for special songs from various
artists from the "old days," times for worship
and times for sharing as a group as well as one
on one. If the Lord should
decide He has His own agenda and wants to take
over, we obviously will step aside and make room
for Him to do as He wills.
Here is the plan in a nutshell: The
"Festival of the Son - Revisited" will be at
Pali Mountain Conference Center near Lake
Arrowhead, at Running Springs, CA. on Friday the
9th to Sunday the 11th. There are several
airports you can fly into, rent a car and drive
to the retreat center.
If you would like to spend a day at Disneyland
with the Durkin family and friends, then
Thursday the 8th will be the date we
will be going. If you want
to join the Durkin family at Disneyland, you can
fly into John Wayne Airport, Santa Ana, CA, rent
a car, and find a hotel in Anaheim. Then we can
all travel up to Pali Mountain on Friday in time
for dinner at the conference center.
